The simple fact about CrossFit is that it changes lives for the better.

Constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity under the watchful eye of an experienced and talented coach produces positive changes – physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Like love, parenting, and good chocolate, until you experience it – until you commit to attending a class three times a week for six weeks with a solid coach at a reputable gym – it’s impossible to comprehend.

No one can tell you why it feels so damn good after a WOD when you’re drenched in sweat, your thighs and shoulders burning, and you’re trying to catch your breath while giving high-fives and fist bumps to the three or four people sprawled on the floor within reach.

You just have to do it to find out if you like it.

We are tremendously lucky to be in an area where there are so many ways to explore this feeling.

Jute is one of two great CrossFit gyms in Benicia, and there are ten more within a 15-mile drive in any direction. Each has something to offer no matter who you are, what kind of shape you’re in, or how old you are.

The many, many people who are helping us get Jute off the ground reflect that diversity and have been direct beneficiaries of developing their health and fitness through CrossFit. Between us we probably have more than 50 years of experience in CrossFit to share with our athletes and friends.

We intend to use that experience and diversity to tie our community together.

That’s what Jute means to us – it’s a way to tie things together, a connection, a way to wrap things up, to secure the things that matter most, a way to bind a common purpose and form a common bond.

And while we think that’s a good cause (and maybe even noble one), we know that a loose bond is sometimes the best one, especially in the beginning.
